The study was carried out among the teaching and non-teaching staff of Higher Education Institutions, (HEIs) of Karachi. The sample comprised of 168 respondents from various HEIs of Karachi including Private and public sector organizations. To assess the employees readiness for change the scale of (Kwahk and Lee, 2008) and for organizational commitment “Three component model” of Meyer and Allen (1997) and scales of (Hersovitch and Meyer, 2002) were used. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique was used to find out the results of the analysis which suggested Affective (AC) and Continuance commitment (CC) have a significant influence on the readiness for change whereas, normative commitment (NC) do not significantly influence the employees readiness for change in institutions of higher education. This study is one of the first to empirically establish a relationship between change readiness behaviors among the employees of the HEIs of Karachi, Pakistan. One of the important theoretical contributions of the study is that the three-component model which has been empirically tested in various socio-economic settings in the Western context and in a Pakistani public sector organization may also be employed in the Higher education sector of Pakistan, which helps in understanding the change related behavior of the employees with respect to policy making and adaptability to the new and updated requirements of the academia including curriculum, assessment methodology and others.

  • Impact of Job Clarity on Nurses’ Job Satisfaction: A Moderating Role of Fairness Perception

    Abstract

The main objective of this study was to ascertain the impact of job clarity on nurses’ job satisfaction in the public hospitals of Sindh province of Pakistan. The results presented a valid and reliable measurement model so that a structural model could be built upon it for testing research hypotheses. Results indicate that job clarity has an insignificant impact on job satisfaction among nurses in Pakistan. Moreover, the fairness perception does not moderate; rather, it is found to be a strong predictor of nurses’ job satisfaction. In other words, people have a lack of clarity about tasks, roles, and responsibilities, often end up affecting their outcomes. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen the element of fairness in jobs to boost job satisfaction. HR policies and general policy makers in the organization have a greater role in this regards to ensure that the work and task are divided on fair grounds and so the rewards.

  • Acceptance of learning management system in university students: an integrating framework of modified UTAUT2 and TTF theories

    Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the unused (behavioural and technological) scopes of learning management system acceptance by succeeding an extra inclusive method to address learning management intention adoption. CFA and SEM analyses have been used to examine the data gathered from university students. The study attempts to investigate the part of technological variables in explaining behavioural intention of individuals to adopt learning management by integrating two pre-established frameworks of UTAUT2 (modified) and TTF. The empirical outcomes proven the significant impact of task (TAC) and technology characteristics (TEC) in simplifying task technology fit (TTF). The outcomes of this study also support the significant relationship of task technology fit (TTF) and facilitating condition (FC) with intention to adopt learning management system. The current study offers an all-inclusive method to explain the acceptance of learning management system by joining two recognised theories of technology acceptance. The strength of current study is based on combining behavioural and technological features of learning management system. The explanatory power of our research model suggests the very best explanatory power that described 60.1% of the behavioural intention to adopt learning management.

  • Idolization and ramification between globalization and ecological footprints: evidence from quantile-on-quantile approach

    Abstract

Globalization persists the tendency to alter numerous aspects of today’s world including religion, transport, language, living styles, and international relations; however, its potential to influence quality of environment is the prime concern for trade and environmental policies guidelines (Audi and Ali 2018). In response to the growing interest for identifying the dynamic relationship between globalization and environmental performance, the present study seeks to investigate the critical link between globalization and ecological footprints in top 15 globalized countries between 1970 and 2016. Applying the novel methods of quantile-on-quantile regression (QQ) and Granger causality in quantiles, the findings examine the manners in which quantiles of globalization affect the quantiles of ecological footprints and vice versa. The empirical results suggest that globalization has a long-term positive effect on ecological footprint and vice versa in case of Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Canada, and Portugal. On the other hand, the estimated results indicate a negative effect between globalization and ecological footprint in the case of France, Germany, the UK, and Hungary. These results extend the recent findings on the globalization–environment nexus implying that the magnitude of relationship among both variables varies with countries demanding individual focus and cautions for postulating environmental and trade policies.

  • Direct-to-Consumer Advertising (DTCA) inPharmaceutical Industry: An Inquiry from PublicPolicy to Practice and Consumers’ Perspective

    Abstract:
This research paper has addressed an explicit gap in the literature of pharmaceutical industry and healthcare management for a marketing promotion technique, direct-to-consumer advertising (DTCA), which has remained to be an academically neglected area by the scholars of Pakistan. Thus, the purpose of this research was to unearth the prevalence of direct-to-consumer advertising (DTCA) of over-the-counter (OTC) or non-prescription medicines and to assess its impact on consumer purchase behavior. Mixing of two qualitative methods comprising meta synthesis of literature followed by twenty five in-depth qualitative interviews with medical doctors, pharmacists, drug policy developers cum regulators and marketers of OTC medicines, and patients in Karachi-Pakistan (comprising medical doctors, pharmacists, and healthcare marketers) took place. Samples were selected
through snowball sampling method, while the data was analyzed through thematic analysis. The research presents quite useful insights as it has revealed that DTCA is exploited by certain unscrupulous circles, which are attempting to market their
unlicensed and unregistered medicines while with prior approval, federal drug authority only allows DTCA for only registered OTC medicines and some multivitamin complexes. It was concluded that DTCA has a profound influence only on perceptions and need recognition stage out of the five stages of consumer purchasing model. Thus, pharmaceutical and health industry experts are advised to change their attitude towards DTCA in Pakistan and must avail it as useful means of promotion and branding of medicines in Pakistan in conjunction with such othertools.
